AILA Award Winners

05 July 2019

The team attended the Queensland Landscape Architecture 2019 Awards on 20th of June, and were thrilled to walk away with two winning projects!

We were awarded an Award of Excellence for Forest Green Park in the Play Spaces category. The judges citation stated “Forest Green Park is an exemplar project for nature-based play and demonstrates a new response to suburban residential community parks in Queensland. The designers recognised early in the process the importance of maintaining the natural values of the site and its context. Meticulous detail was applied to the identification, mapping and reuse of site timber. The clever composition of bespoke structures along with natural materials has resulted in a unique play space that provides children with opportunities to tackle a range of challenges, beautifully integrated with the surrounding bushland context, providing children one sense of place and identity.” For more information, visit the Forest Green Park project page.

We were also awarded a Landscape Architecture Award for Everleigh Park in the Parks and Open Space category. The judges citation stated “The elegant and understated detailing of the Everleigh Park project sets it apart from similar development parks. It is this elegance, which when combined with evidence of well-considered site planning, that establishes a site with a firm disposition in its wider landscape context. With a contemporary style that is complemented by the landform and scale of this open space, the jury recognised the subtlety of the materials and finishes which added a degree of quality to this public open space. With a welcome statement that was both artistic and memorable, the awards jury foresees the site as a whole becoming a landmark for local communities.” For more information, visit the Everleigh Park project page.

We couldn’t have done it without our longstanding clients, Mirvac Residential, and key collaborators and contractors including Street + GardenUrban Play and Eureka Landscapes.

We have moved!

3 December 2018

We are excited to announce that our team has moved to a new location in Fortitude Valley.  We have spent eight years in a building about 500m away from our new location — our old office served us well, and we made great memories (and landscapes) there, but we couldn’t be more excited about our new space.

The new office is in Trinity Lane, between Holy Trinity Anglican Church and 900 Ann Street, looking out onto a lively laneway and the recently revamped gardens surrounding the church.  We’re excited about the hustle and bustle happening outside our windows, the connection to green space and all of the great amenities within an easy walking distance of the new location.

It has been an exciting few years for Form Landscape Architects, and we look at this new location as the start of another chapter in our history.  We’re still working on getting settled in and adding artwork to the walls, but we’re incredibly excited to be in the new space.

We can’t wait to welcome you into the new space, feel free to drop in for a visit!

25 September 2017

The unusual approach at Astonbrook involved planting strangler figs in the crook of the existing Camphor laurel trees that lined the banks of Spring Creek. The creek is home to an Ornate Rainbowfish, and it was imperative that the creek remain undisturbed while the Camphor laurels are removed. This 10 year strategy seems to be paying off – these photos are 3 years apart and the creek is thriving!

25 September 2017

As part of the long-term strategy to remove Camphor laurels at Astonbrook (without ruining bank stability/exposing the water too quickly to sunlight and heat), strangler figs were planted in the crook of the existing trees.

The long term goal is for them to strangle the trees and slowly kill them off.
