Designed prior to the incorporation of Form Landscape Architects, Altura Apartments, located on the Brisbane River at New Farm, have been designed to provide a refined contemporary combination of built elements and structured architectural planting to compliment the modern built from.

The pedestrian entry is defined with a glass and steel gate arbour and steel portal frame. Extending along the pathway into the site the frame provides an intimate scale and a sense of enclosure while directing the visitor towards the building foyer. Advanced bamboo was planted to reinforce the linear corridor of the entry, broken only by a subtle stone water feature wall.

The lower level of the development consists of granite paved terraces stepping down to a formal swimming pool with views maintained over the river. Revegetation of the riverbank was a major consideration in the design and has been achieved with the transitional planting from exotic species close to the building edge to dense planting with local endemic species along the river bank and riparian zone to the water’s edge.
