STATUS

Constructed

Located just outside of Beaudesert, this contemporary farmhouse has an elevated position that overlooks rolling hills, grazing land and an expansive lake. Form Landscape Architects worked closely with the client and the Architect to design a landscape that is reminiscent of a grand homestead garden.

The design includes a large formal driveway entrance with central water feature, farm produce garden, intimate courtyard spaces and a formal swimming pool. The selection and arrangement of advanced trees and plants contributes to the house’s integration with the established surrounding landscape.

Careful consideration was given to reinforce physical and visual connections with the existing working farm, and maintaining views into the broader landscape. Numerous contemporary sculptural elements are placed at key entry points and on selected visual axes from inside the house drawing the garden inside. Formal linearity combined with a contemporary palette of finishes, plant matter and sculpture has produced a contemporary farmhouse that references grand homesteads of the past
